About Us

About Us

Gigsido came about after months on end of hearing about the poor economic climate and high unemployment. We all know someone who has a highly marketable skill to offer who was either downsized, or otherwise experienced a loss of income.  Gigsido wants to put everyone back to work, give everyone a chance to learn or earn, and give everyone an avenue for sharing their skills, talents, and expertise; interactively, on their own terms.

Gigsido was also a selfish venture in that in these busy times, convenience is everything. Driving across town can be inconvenient not to mention stressful and expensive. Being able to take a lesson in the comfort of your own home, or local coffee shop now that’s more like it.  It just makes $ense!

In summation:

What we are: The marketplace where you can share or gain knowledge, talent or skills interactively. Start earning & learning. What’s your gig? Get your gig on at Gigsido.com

What we aren’t: Your average gig site, we are the interactive one.

Everybody’s got a gig, what’s yours? Earn and learn with a micro job.

What is Gigsido.com?

Right about now, you’re probably wondering what on earth is a Gigsido? Is it a strange new musical instrument meant to give the kazoo a run for it’s money? Is it something you yodel? Do you smoke it? Not bad guesses my friends and alas you will not be left in suspense. Gigsido is actually three words in one: Gigs – I – Do. Now, you might be saying to yourself, “What does this have to do with me?” I am not in a band, and the last gig I played was when I accompanied my Cousins singing “Happy Birthday” to Great Aunt Elma. Well, since Aunt Elma’s time the word gig has evolved quite a bit. Here at Gigsido, we define a gig as a skill, talent, expertise; basically anything that you can offer to others for a price. Gigsido is about sharing with others interactively. It’s the ability to connect with others across any distance with a internet connected device, Skype account or other voice/video call software to communicate over the internet, and our online interactive micro job marketplace. Anyone can use the site to buy or sell a gig and start learning or earning, just remember the US dollar is the currency that is used on the site.

How does Gigsido work?

So how does this interactive gig sharing work?  If you got a talent, skill, or expertise to share than you will want to offer a gig. Think of it as creating an ad for a service that you can provide interactively via a web cam. You’re the star!  All you have to do is name your price and note that gigs are for 1-hour increments or less.  With these initial easy steps out of the way, you then share your gig using the social networking tools available to you on Gigsido. Now, the money-making begins; you will then be notified when someone orders your gig.  Tag, you’re it! After you connect with your client and provide your services, your account will be credited with the funds less a 20% administrative fee (hey, this helps us to keep the lights on and computers humming for you guys). Withdraw your funds and go spend it to help the economy.

If you are a noble citizen who wants to purchase a gig and do your own bit of helping the economy, you simply pay for it via PayPal or credit card. You’re now positioned to learn something new or benefit from another’s talent.  You’ll receive the Skype or other voice/video call software contact details for the gig you’ve chosen and you will arrange with them a mutually agreed upon time to interact. Afterwards, don’t forget to provide feedback on the gig’s creator. If you need more information on the gig, you can use our handy messaging system to communicate prior to your purchase ensuring your getting what you’re looking for. Also if you need to prepare for the gig you can use the messaging system to exchange documents that maybe needed. This way you can be sure that you’re fully prepared and get the most out of the time allocated. Remember anyone can use this site so whether you’re in the USA or Europe or Asia and anywhere in-between you can buy or sell a gig.

We are open for comments so please use the comment button below for questions and answers. Follow us on Twitter or facebook

Don’t forget you can start learning or earning today. You can create Gigs or search what others do.

Adding a new Skype or ooVoo contact name for your interactive gig.

Once you have installed either Skype or ooVoo on your internet connected device you’ll need to add the name of the contact that you’re going to do an interactive gig with. Here is a quick guide on adding a new Skype or ooVoo contact name to your contacts so your ready for an interactive gig.

Using Skype for your interactive gig?

  • The first step is to add the Skype contact name then you can make the video call.
  • In Skype, from the menu bar, click Contacts > Add Contact
  • In the search field, enter the Skype name of the person you want to add, and then click Find.

The contact is added to your contact list, but will appear offline until they accept your request. When they have accepted your request, you can see when they are online, and make free calls and video calls with them.

How much should I charge for my gig?

You might be thinking, “How much should I charge for my gig?” Well, here are some pointers and things to consider:

Be sure that you’re offering a realistic yet appropriate value for your services. Think about market values and also how much you would pay for someone else’s time if they were to provide a service for you. With Gigsido, you can afford to be competitive; your expenses are lessened by the fact that you’re offering your service over the internet. And hey, consider that you don’t have to spend time traveling and may be performing the gig from the comfort of your very own home. Savings galore! Keep in mind, when a gig is purchased it’s for an hour or less time span, if more time is required then additional gigs should be purchased. Lastly, Gigsido is about YOU so, it is up to you if you want to raise/lower your prices based on demand and your experience with working in this format.

At this time, our pricing options are from $5 through to $500/hr. The more value you give and the more competitive your price is, the more likely people are to use your services especially when you are just getting started and making a name for yourself online. It’s FREE to advertise your gig with us, and we only charge a 20% admin fee IF we send work your way. This 20% goes down to 15% on gigs over $100. We will tirelessly promote your gig across various social networks and by other means, all at no cost to you. We only charge the pesky administrative fee so we can keep our own lights on and computers humming.

Gig Ideas.

Gig Ideas.

If you know the beautiful city of Paris like the back of your hand, why not share that information with someone about to embark on a Parisian adventure themselves? How about teaching someone to dance, cook, speak Spanish, or solve difficult math problems right in their own home or from the comfort of their laptop? What if you could set the ambiance for someone’s romantic dinner by sharing your musical talent (do you take requests)?

If you have the knowledge talent or skills in any area or, want to gain knowledge, skill, or experience someone’s talent, Gigsido is for you.  There are many of us out there that could use some extra dough or could use some assistance, let’s put each other back to work and/or help each other out.  If it can be done interactively, a gig can be created or purchased for it. Here are some more ideas for Gigs:

Live music played by a musician for your party or special event. Teach someone or learn how to sing, dance, speak a language, cook, fix or build anything or even figure out a Rubik’s cube.  You name it and a gig can be created for it. “How to’s” as in “how to do something” is one of the most common searches online today.  Any type of tutoring can be made into a gig.  How about teaching someone martial arts?  How about being coached by a personal trainer at your own convenience in the locale of your own choosing? Want advice on how to get into college? Share with someone what it is like to live or work somewhere.  How about feedback on a document, essay, website, etc? Are you really great at the art of negotiating?  Do you need advice or counseling? Show someone how to change their own oil?  We could go on and on listing interactive gig ideas and opportunities, but we are sure this has got you thinking… Got a question? What Makes Us Different.

What Makes Us Different.

Sure you can go to sites out there and get a puppet to hold up a banner for you. Here at Gigsido, we want to go deeper than that. We’re here to service those that want to enhance themselves in some way.  We’re different than all those other sites because here you are going to interact either face to face or via voice. Yes, you can go online to learn how to put in an infant car seat. At Gigsido, you can get advice from someone who has been certified to install car-seats and who you can ask advice from.  With an interactive gig on Gigsido, there is no need to pause or set a video on repeat. It’s all about you, at your own pace, asking or answering questions live.  Even if you simply want an experience, such as someone sharing their musical talent with you, at Gigsido, you could ask the musician what song they just played or make a request.  Likewise, they can tailor the experience to you and not just a generic audience. Try it today, everyone’s got a gig, we know you have talent to share or skills to gain. Got a question? Leave a comment below and we shall answer it. Follow us on Twitter or facebook
